Mill Creek Evacuation Drill on October 19, 2019

Residents of the Mill Creek community are invited to participate in the County of Sonoma’s evacuation drill on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 8:00 am – 10:00 am. Evacuation route information is now available.

Resident Participation

The drill will be hosted by the Sonoma County Department of Emergency Management and the City of Healdsburg.

During the exercise, residents will receive first-hand experience evacuating their home in an emergency. They will become more familiar with potential shelter locations and learn about various resources and valuable information they will need during a wildfire or other emergency.

Evacuation Drill Timeline

8:00 a.m. – Drill begins – All participating residents receive an emergency message telling them to evacuate to Healdsburg Community Center*

8:30 a.m. – Residents practice evacuating their homes and driving through the suggested evacuation routes

9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. – Residents meet at the assembly site – Healdsburg Community Center at 1557 Healdsburg Avenue

10:00 a.m. – American Red Cross distributes information and answers questions on disaster preparedness at the assembly site

*Emergency alerts for the exercise will be sent to all residents within the designated neighborhoods. Residents not participating in the exercise should disregard messages related to the exercise.

Important Information

Residents who signed up to participate in the exercise should follow the pre-designated evacuation route and instructions.
Residents not participating in the exercise should disregard any emergency alert messages related to the exercise

About this Event

The drill is part of a significant effort to increase preparedness across Sonoma County, which includes additional evacuation planning and drills, emergency alert tests, and tools and tips for residents that will increase their safety in a disaster.

The Department of Emergency Management is identifying other high priority areas within the county, and will work with those communities to coordinate evacuation exercises. The high priority areas face a higher threat due to a number of variables, such as thick vegetation and limited access.

Neighbors, community groups, local law enforcement and fire agencies, and the Department of Emergency Management are collaborating to make the drill possible.
