The primary goal is to ensure the system works. The exercise will strengthen collaboration among response agencies and community partners participating in the planning phase of the exercise. We will be sending some alerts to verify if key recent upgrades to the WEA system work as they should – specifically related to geo-fencing and Spanish language alerts.
After the exercise, volunteer monitors will be reporting which alerts reached them and where, so we can learn what worked and where we need improvement. We will conduct an after-action review following the drill where we will highlight lessons learned, and incorporate them into future Alert and Warning operations.
