Avoid Delays: What you should do before Applying for a Permit to Rebuild after the Point Fire

• File an insurance claim
  • Property owners should start by filing a claim with their insurance company to ensure a timely response during the rebuild process.
• Verify the status of the property
  • Find the property on the Rapid Evaluation Safety Assessment (RESA) map to ensure it is accurately marked.
  • If there is an error, please let us know via the SoCo Report It tool.
• Remove Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) from the property
  • A sweep of HHW will be completed by government agency at no cost to property owners.
• Mark Septic System and Water Well Locations
  • It is important to mark the septic system and water well location before fire debris removal starts.
• Remove Fire Debris from the property
  • Fire Debris Removal should be completed after HHW removal is complete
    Note: A Grading Permit is not required for Debris Removal
