CERT Basic Training 2022

Saturday, September 3, 2022 @ 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM

All CERT training by Northern Sonoma County CERT is currently using a hybrid model. That means that individuals register for on-line training at their own pace for the “classroom” work. The program is offered by the University of Utah and can be started and stopped at will, until completed. Then you are issued a Certificate of Completion which you need to share with us.
The CERT Basic Training Class in English is here: https://cert.hazready.com/CourseCatalog?friendlyId=DP000047
The CERT Basic Training Class in Spanish is here: https://cert.hazready.com/CourseCatalog?friendlyId=DP000048
Once you complete the classroom work there is the practical “hands-on” training that must be completed in about 2 eight-hour days (with 1 hour for lunch). Often these are done on Saturdays, but they can be done in any fashion that leads to 14 more hours of training. CERT training can be done in Spanish upon request. We have Spanish language materials and instructors and are happy to accommodate.
CERT training is free, but each person pays for their equipment ($75 one-time). We provide equipment free or at reduced cost for those who cannot afford it. We provide N-95 masks, nitrile gloves, work gloves, goggles, helmets, vests and a variety of other items on your first day of in-person training.
Northern Sonoma County CERT also provides CPR/AED training as part of our basic training program and provides CPR/AED training to non-CERT volunteers. If you wish CPR/AED certification there is a $25 fee. If you simply wish to receive the training, it is free.
Once trained as a CERT Volunteer we offer additional free training including:
• Advanced First Aid
• Evacuation with Pet Animals
• Radio Communications
• Evacuation Traffic Control
• Firefighter Rehabilitation Support
• Emergency Shelter Management
• Fireline Safety Awareness Course
• Animal Rescue Technician training
• All Hazards Health and Safety Awareness Course
Upon completion of Basic CERT, you are eligible to be sworn in as a Disaster Assistance Worker under California rules which means that once you are activated in an emergency, should you choose to volunteer, you are covered by Worker’s Compensation Insurance.
We currently have the following in-person training scheduled:

Saturday, September 3 – Cloverdale Veterans Building – CPR/AED in the AM and Bandaging, Splints, additional First Aid, and Disaster Psychology in the PM
